January 2003

Jan 7    - Regular Meeting and Training

- Recent Events and Issues,

- Radio Basics by Andy Infanti

 

Jan 13, 14 + 16th – Radio Certification Course, by Andy Infanti

 

Jan 14 - Rope Team Training night (brief due to radio course on same night)

- Discussed future plans and needs.

 

Jan 25 - Rope Team Field Trip

- Several Rope Team Members surveyed the Higgyland Area. These are the bluffs located just past the Shinglemill beach, on Powell Lake. This very accessible climbing area has a very high potential for emergency calls. Basic pre-plan options were identified, and strategies discussed. An excellent and sobering day.

This newsletter will be issued once a month, except for July. The monthly issue will be sent out in the morning of the Friday before our regular meeting night. Therefore, contributions must be sent in by midnight, the Wednesday night before the meeting.

In order for this to work, everyone needs to be involved, and contribute. Contributions are not limited to PowellRiverSAR members. The more we communicate, the more we learn, the more effective SAR people we become.
